Currently the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League, Kevin’s life has revolved around football since his days at Farrell. He was hired by the Dolphins on January 27, 2012.
Following his graduation from Farrell, Kevin played defensive back for the University of Massachusetts. He began his coaching career in 1978 as a graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati, then went on to coach for a number of college programs, including defensive coordinator and secondary coach at three major Division I programs: Syracuse, Maryland and Fresno State.
In addition, Kevin coached at Holy Cross College from 1982-90, first serving as outside linebackers coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 1986. During his five years as coordinator, Holy Cross was the winningest Division I-AA team in the nation.
Kevin points out that much of what he learned, both as a player and as a coach, came from former Farrell head coach Dennis Barrett. Kevin played under Coach Barrett at Farrell in the 1970s and coached on Barrett’s staff at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at King’s Point, serving as defensive coordinator for one season.
Prior to his position with the Miami Dolphins, Kevin spent 11 seasons in the NFL as a coach on the Cincinnati Bengals’ coaching staff, and nine years as the team’s defensive backs coach.
