Sal Turchio, Class of 1971

Originally born in Sicily, Sal immigrated to the United States at age five with his parents Giuseppa and Salvatore, in 1959, living first in Brooklyn, then moving to South Beach, in 1964.

After graduating from Farrell, he went on to earn his bachelors and master’s degrees from Pace University.

Sal began his thirty-plus-year career in higher education in 1975, and eventually held the position of Assistant and Director of Student Affairs, Assistant and Associate Dean for Students and Dean for Campus Administration.

Now retired from the position, he began at St. Peter’s College, NJ in 1998, and was the Dean of Students, where he headed the crisis response team in addition to his other duties.  He was also Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literature.

Sal and his wife Barbara reside in Staten Island.  They are the proud parents of two daughters, Lauren and Jillian.
