Dr. Paul Bollmeyer earned his undergraduate degree from SUNY Buffalo, and his medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook in 1989. Paul’s medical career centered around caring for those in the emergency room, which drew praise from his colleagues. He also helped train others through the Duke Corporation Education Program, part of the Duke Global Learning Resource Network.
He worked in the ER’s at a number of hospitals, including St. Vincent’s, Bayley Seton, and Staten Island University Hospital.
Tragically, Paul was killed on November 4, 2006, when the vehicle in which he was riding collided with a deer on a highway in Wyoming. Marie Del Priore, Paul’s mother, has established a scholarship in Paul’s name at Farrell.
The Dr. Paul Bollmeyer Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Farrell student who is a member of the track and field team (a sport Paul competed in at Farrell) and covers a year of tuition and expenses. It is awarded year-to-year and is based on financial need. Candidates must possess a B average, be hard working with strong family values, and good character; all good qualities Paul possessed.
